Another good turn out for the Pimblett Plate Round Robin kindly sponsored by Bernard Graney. Jeff Lawrenson gave a brief introduction about the Pimblett Plate competition and it’s history.
The format was a round robin with each player playing four rounds of eleven ends per game. The player from each green would then play off for the final. The greens had slowed a great deal due to the rain and quite a spurt of green growth. The weather was reasonable considering the rain on the day before and Saturday morning. There was some excellent bowling on both greens.
The round robin winners were Alan Burns and John Burrows with runners up Frank Dennett and Jeff Lawrenson. The final was a lesson in determination and concentration with Alan winning comfortably 11-3. Well done Alan and hard luck John, you came up against formidable opponent.
After the presentation, thanks to Bernard Graney, we enjoyed a well earned drink and a super buffet, prepared by Linda.
The President with the finalists and presenting Alan with the plate.
