Sport England Project Update:3 – October 2019
We are now well under way with the project. The toilet facilities are now taking shape and the heating system installation progressing. We have encountered some problems during the work which required us to authorise further work.
The existing flat roof above the toilets was found to be leaking and rotten in parts, and areas of the outer wall facing Kiln Lane were allowing moisture through. To ensure that the new toilets aren’t damaged by water ingress the roof is being replaced with a “warm roof” system, and the affected external walls have had a damp proof membrane fitted.
In addition, the fall on the sewage pipes wasn’t sufficient to accommodate the new toilet facilities and has had to be modified. These plus some other extra costs will push the total project cost to around £85,000 of which the club will have to fund £35,000 from club reserves. Fingers crossed we don’t encounter any more problems.
On Thursday, 17th October, the work on the new access ramp will begin. The surrounding area will be cordoned off and parking will be restricted during the day.
Can I ask all members who are likely to attend during the afternoon to be particularly observant and careful when parking their cars. If parking is difficult it may be safer to park outside of the club premises. Hopefully, this will be for a short period only.
Thank you for your patience and support during the project work. I’m sure it will be more than worth it in the long run.
